Moving the needle on technology
Matry Meiri & Co. joined TAU Law’s
circle of supporters last year and we are
delighted to announce that its generous
support will continue in 2018-19, with
the Firm’s generous sponsorship of
the Law and Technology Workshop,
presented by Prof. Michael Birnhack
and Prof. Assaf Yaakov.
With particular expertise in
insolvency, commercial
law, corporate, banking
and high tech, Matry Meiri & Co. takes
an active interest in the legal challenges
that technology and boundary-pushing
innovation present, and as such the
Firm is regularly ranked as leading in
its areas of expertise.
“Supporting TAU Law is a natural step
for us,” says Adv. Ronen Matry, who
heads up the Insolvency, Banking and
Real Estate Departments. “A significant
portion of our attorneys are Faculty
graduates, and the Firm is like a
second home to retired Supreme Court
Justice Yoram Danziger, who is now a
professor at TAU Law. We look forward
to the continued collaboration, and will
always be delighted to accept interns
and attorneys who are graduates of Tel
Aviv University’s Faculty of Law.” •
Israeli and global legal history
community gets a major boost
We are delighted to
report that the David Berg
Foundation has extended
its funding for the David Berg
Institute for Law and History over
the next two years. The Institute will
continue its ongoing activities, and
thanks to a generous increase in the
donation, extend the breadth of the
current program to include other
components that will greatly benefit the
community of scholars working at the
intersection of law and history in Israel
and overseas.
The Institute will continue its mission
to advance the study of legal history
in Israel and support collaborative
research projects and academic events
such as the Israeli History and Law
Association annual conference, the
annual prize for the best legal history
article, and book series on the history of
law in Israel. The first book in the series,
“Blue and White Law: Identity and law
in Israel – a century-long polemic”
by Prof. Nir kedar was published in
2017. The second book, “Between
State and Community: Trials of Jewish
Collaborators with the Nazis” by Dr.
Rivka Brot will be published in the next
few months. Both books are jointly
published with the Ben-Gurion Institute
for the Study of Israel and Zionism and
Open University Press.
The main innovations made possible
thanks to the increased contribution
will be reflected in the development of
new tools for researching the history
of law in Israel, advancing and refining
the archival history of law in Israel, and
building a state of the art knowledge
repository for mandatory Supreme
Court rulings. To join the national list
for the history of law in Israel and for
