Kaleidoscope
Seeking a visionary new CEO to lead us into the next chapter
A message from Martin Blakebrough
Kaleidoscope is a special organisation and has been part of my life from the age of five , when my father started the organisation . I am proud of what has been achieved in our history , from being one of the first services to open a needle syringe exchange in the UK , to onsite dispensing of methadone and , in more recent times , leading on the provision of long-acting buprenorphine . We are not simply a prescribing service but are proud of our campaigning work , from opposing the 1971 Drugs Act to championing the case for opening an enhanced harm reduction service in Wales . the country , covering all its diverse regions . We invest in our staff to produce excellent services and are proud to be rated as Platinum by IIP .
And so we now look to the future and a new CEO who will be given the freedom to look at the next chapter of this unique organisation . We want someone who is passionate about social justice , who can inspire change and will work with staff and those who use our services to continue to innovate and ensure we are a forward looking organisation .
Our history is important but it cannot define our future . I have been working with Kaleidoscope since 1993 , initially as the deputy to my sister who became the director after my father retired , and in 1998 I took over the CEO role . I moved the organisation from being a church based service in Kingston , to Wales where we are the largest drug and alcohol service in
As for me , I will always be proud of Kaleidoscope , but I recognise it is time to step away and allow a new CEO and their excellent Executive Team to take the organisation forward into an exciting future . I will leave knowing Kaleidoscope has a great Board , wonderful staff and amazing people who use our services .
