Over 62,000 * people in England may not know they have hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is a life-threatening virus spread by blood-to-blood contact . If untreated , it can lead to cirrhosis , liver cancer and death . However , hep C can be diagnosed with a simple finger prick test and most people can be cured with a course of tablets .
Over the last five years , hundreds of thousands of people in drug and alcohol services have been tested for hep C , and thousands have been successfully treated .
