Trauma Informed Care Initiative —
Results from an Employee Engagement Survey revealed that DCS employees desire more training and development opportunities . In response , DCS is offering more mission-critical training , such as Trauma-Informed Care ( TIC ). Many probationers and parolees have a history of trauma , which also impacts their families and surrounding communities . This history may serve as a barrier to addressing criminogenic needs . TIC is an organizational framework that involves understanding these challenges to improve services and promote safety for everyone involved . To date , we have offered the training to 100 % of our staff . DCS also integrated the program into our Basic Training Academy so that every cadet is certified in TIC before becoming an officer .
