WE KNOW THAT ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL
WON’T WORK FOR US.
WE ALSO CAN’T
WAIT AROUND
FOR THE FUTURE
OF COMMUNITY
SUPERVISION TO
COME TO US.
WE HAVE TO
CHASE IT.
The first year of DCS’s operation was dedicated to building a solid
foundation of good agency governance, developing a team of
well-trained officers that live our values, and fostering a culture of
innovation and pursuit of excellence.
In other words, we sought to prepare DCS to do extraordinarily
difficult and valuable work excellently, for a long time to come.
In the upcoming years, DCS will continue strengthening community
supervision in Georgia through an evidence-based, community-
focused, and holistic approach. This endeavor does not have a quick
win. It cannot be done alone. And we know that one-size-fits-all
won’t work for us.
We also can’t wait around for the future of community supervision
to come to us. We have to chase it. Our pursuit of “next” practices
will drive transformation in Georgia’s community supervision for
years to come.
Our focus, this year and every year, is to provide opportunities
for positive change in the lives of those we serve. I am honored to
present this annual report which highlights some of the ways we
are doing that now and the future directions we intend to pursue.
Sincerely,
Michael W. Nail
