They met each other in adulthood as Headley was renovating her 1898 house that “ no other builders would touch ,” she said . Still trying to find someone to help her with the house , she thought , “‘ What about that weirdo ?” she said jokingly . That “ weirdo ” was Capp , and she knew she found the right person for the job when he custom-made a special screwdriver to use with her antique fixtures .
Not only was he right for the job , he was the right one to share all of life ’ s moments — the rest is history .
Coincidentally , after getting to know each other , they discovered they even lived in Africa at the same time . She was there with the United Nations , and he was there teaching the Kenyan Army how to skydive . “ It was a good thing we didn ’ t meet then ,” Headley jokes . “ We joke that on paper , you would never put us together but we ’ re a very good team ,” said Capp . “ We have this really nice balance of backgrounds , experience and aesthetics ,” added Headley .
Another thing the couple is excited about is season two of their show “ Building Outside the Lines ," which also stars their daughter Alex Headley . Season one wrapped up this year , and a premier date for season two has not yet been set .
“ I ’ d say about 50 percent of our guests knew about this place because of the show ,” said Headley . Some guests are even eager to help Cappie with projects around the property .
“ We started coming out for dinner every evening because people were staying with us that wanted to meet Cappie ,” said Headly .
For those wanting to get a look at the resort and Cappie ’ s work , some of the show will take place at Shortgrass , featuring a couple projects on the property . The show airs on Magnolia Network and is available to stream on Max .
