“ I love bison,” Hussein s ays.“ They represent America.”

Tucked away on Highway 385 just outside of Hill City is a small drive thru, known for its unique approach to casual dining- local and fresh. The Tatanka Cafe is the dream of its owner, Faris Hussein who envisioned a simple recipe for success- to serve up the freshest ingredients, sourced locally, in a convenient cafe that offers a taste of true western flavor by focusing a menu on beef and bison.

“ I love bison,” Hussein s ays.“ They represent America.”

Tatanka Cafe serves bison that it gets from Rapid City. Hussein says it’ s actually against federal law to inject hormones or antibiotics into buffalo so all the meat he serves is considered“ organic.” The cafe offers a lunch and dinner menu of bison brats, bison hotdogs and bison burgers served on a toasted brioche bun.“ We take care of every detail,“ Hussein says about the food the cafe serves all made from scratch.
That difference is evident from the start, with the super popular bison breakfast burrito, one of several breakfast items on the Tatanka cafe menu.
