“ You don ’ t have to have money to have a clean bathroom ,” he said . “ Our bathrooms are over the top , and that ’ s just showing people respect .”
Keating said Deadwood is a booming town , where people from five states — if not more — are coming for entertainment . As Las Vegas becomes more and more unaffordable , more and more people will choose to come to Deadwood .
“ When I was younger Las Vegas was a middle class town where they literally paid you to go ,” he said . “ That is no longer the case . Las Vegas is no longer a mid- dle class destination . People cannot afford to go there . Where are they going ? They ’ re going to Deadwood , South Dakota .”
If anybody knows the ins and outs of starting a new business it ’ s Keating , who said it takes at least two years to ramp up and change consumer habits . It takes the right type of staff and the right type of experience and rewards program to entice people to make a new casino their home base . He and the staff at The Landmark are working hard to do just that .
“ It ’ s different from other places . It really provides an elevated experience ,” he said . “ We wanted to create an experience that did not exist in Deadwood . “
The Landmark is open from 9 a . m . to midnight Sunday through Thursday and from 9 a . m . to 2 a . m . on Friday and Saturday . You can learn more by visiting deadwoodlandmark . com .
