And she reminded me, as well as any potential visitors, that since DC Booth houses the national fisheries archives the exhibits won’ t be about DC Booth only, for for the entire national fish hatchery system.
The DC Booth grounds are open year-round, but the season really kicks off in May with myriad school field trips from local kids.
In addition, after a flood in 2023 sent 975 tons of sediment cascading into the main pond where the large Brown trout are housed and fed, it was closed for winter of 2024-2025 and just recently reopened. During the closure the fish were moved out, the pond was drained, all the sediment was dredged, rock was put down, the pond was refilled and finally the more-than
200 fish were returned to their home where they are now happily munching on handfuls of fish pellets tossed into the water by visitors.
“ Remember we never charge to visit the grounds and the brand new museum will also be free,” Ferrell said.“ We encourage you to come see us!”
