Sundance, a tiny town nestled in eastern Wyoming, is known for its wide streets and beautiful scenery, a stone ' s throw from Devils’ Tower.
During Winterfest, the town is transformed into an outdoor natural arena, where historic buildings frame an action-packed competition in which horses and riders pull a skier as fast as possible through a course that includes gates, jumps and obstacles as well as myriad thrills and spills.
Sundance Winterfest began as a way to bring traffic to downtown Sundance businesses during the slower winter months. A group of business owners spitballed ideas and settled on skijoring, which was gaining in popularity at the time.
