software & applications
into how an application runs on different devices . Additionally , real user monitoring allows you to discover how the application performs when accessed from different countries and identify how the network and other factors contribute to the response time .
Should a business feel its applications are suffering from poor server performance , they can deploy another tool , server agents , to inspect performance on the application server level . Agents sit on both the server and the application . The agents gather information to formulate an application performance index ( Apdex ) score on the user experience . Such agents can also check on the performance of the database to examine , for instance , how long it takes to execute database calls . Profiling transactions identifies slow running transactions and uses many different metrics to locate what is causing below-par performance . IT or developers can even drill down to the code level to understand problematic code components .
Whichever technique is used , deployment of monitoring technology is very easy , even if IT operations need to obtain necessary permissions within larger enterprises . The point is that whatever the size of the organisation , it is vital that the application user experience is not neglected . There are no longer any excuses for a business to suddenly find itself with underperforming applications . Whether that means applications that are the source of complaints from staff and customers , or that inexplicably decline in use and revenue generation .
With a variety of readily available advanced monitoring techniques that ensure optimised performance across all applications , there is no rationale for IT admins throwing their hands up in the air when things go wrong . The tools to assure a smooth user experience are at hand .
