industry news Amazon Web Services’ next big investment is in the Stockholm region Amazon Web Services (AWS) will invest in the Stockholm region and aims to get three data centres up and running by 2018. The sites will be built in Västerås, Eskilstuna and Katrineholm. This investment shows Sweden’s high competitiveness and attractive conditions for data centre investments. The investment will make Sweden and the Stockholm region the hub of the AWS initiative in Northern Europe. Patrik Öhlund, CEO of Node Pole, said, ‘We are delighted that Amazon Web Services has decided to make its next large investment in Sweden and the fantastic opportunities this provides for Västerås, Eskilstuna and Katrineholm.
