on the cover RACKING SERVICE Rob Platt, UK sales manager, tells DCN about Penn Elcom’s current 19in racking products, what is being developed and why the company took the decision to design, develop and manufacture its new 19in racking exclusively in the UK. N ineteen inch racking has always been Penn Elcom’s primary focus and we invest a lot of time and money into research and development so that we can continually prototype new and innovative ideas. Our current and extensive range includes stand alone racks, wall mount racks, open tower racks, shock mount systems, rack cooling systems, cable management, rack lights and numerous rack accessories. We have seen a noticeable increase in demand from a variety of sectors that are relatively new to us, including data centre 14 | April 2017 management. Because of this, our 19in racking range is expanding, and we are able to cater for and supply to new types of customer, which is exciting. Made in the UK Our latest 19in products that are reaching the market this year will be UK manufactured, and will include updated versions of our most popular products, such as server enclosures, wall mounts and slide and rotate racks. UK based production has allowed us to add new features to these products, such as tapped rack rails, increased onboard cable management systems, additional thermal management products and a wider range of sizes, with the aim of making our racks even more efficient data centre solutions. We understand how important customer feedback can be, and we like to adapt our products quickly to customer recommendations or suggestions. A number of our new product features have been inspired by this type of feedback. Having our 19in rack production based in the UK means we can effect these changes quickly and release the improved products to market within a matter of weeks.
