RACKING SERVICE
Rob Platt, UK sales manager, tells DCN about Penn Elcom’s current 19in racking
products, what is being developed and why the company took the decision to design,
develop and manufacture its new 19in racking exclusively in the UK.
N
ineteen inch racking has
always been Penn Elcom’s
primary focus and we
invest a lot of time and
money into research
and development so that we can
continually prototype new and
innovative ideas. Our current and
extensive range includes stand
alone racks, wall mount racks,
open tower racks, shock mount
systems, rack cooling systems,
cable management, rack lights
and numerous rack accessories.
We have seen a noticeable
increase in demand from a variety
of sectors that are relatively
new to us, including data centre

management. Because of this, our
19in racking range is expanding,
and we are able to cater for and
supply to new types of customer,
which is exciting.
Made in the UK
Our latest 19in products that are
reaching the market this year will
be UK manufactured, and will
include updated versions of our
most popular products, such as
server enclosures, wall mounts
and slide and rotate racks. UK
based production has allowed
us to add new features to these
products, such as tapped rack
rails, increased onboard cable
management systems, additional
thermal management products
and a wider range of sizes, with the
aim of making our racks even more
efficient data centre solutions.
We understand how important
customer feedback can be, and we
like to adapt our products quickly
to customer recommendations
or suggestions. A number of our
new product features have been
inspired by this type of feedback.
Having our 19in rack production
based in the UK means we can
effect these changes quickly and
release the improved products to
market within a matter of weeks.
