Collaboration with MIT will enhance our Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math( STEAM) curriculum and will include a series of in-school challenges for all students
We are delighted to announce that DCIS has been selected to begin a partnership with Massachusetts Institute of Technology( MIT). To launch the collaboration for the 2017-2018 academic year, four of our students from Year 5 to Year 8 will have the opportunity to visit MIT in the United States from the 30th April 2017 to 6th May 2017.
The focus of the trip is STEAM subjects,( Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). While in Boston, students will take part in a synthetic Biology lab, workshops in real-world gaming, nautical engineering, programming and music production. There will also be tours of both MIT and Harvard University.
The trip will be a great opportunity to meet students from other schools, as approximately 104 students will be attending from 25 other Nord Anglia schools.

Yoga and Learning
Highlighting the benefits of yoga for overall wellness and concentration, to improve performance in the workplace or classroom
A wealth of research has recently highlighted the benefits of yoga for overall wellness and concentration – time on the mat can improve performance in the workplace or classroom. In November, Nord Anglia Education published an article online highlighting how yoga can unite the mind, body and spirit to improve strength, flexibility and co-ordination.
At Dover Court International School, yoga is a valuable tool we use to promote focus, strength and mindfulness for all. Children access yoga through their PE sessions and in the classroom during relaxation activities. In addition, we run three different yoga ECAs each week with a focus on primary, secondary and DSE yoga( which is tailored for children with additional learning needs).
Alongside our qualified PE teachers, we are pleased to congratulate Miss Sarah Alison who recently qualified as a SEN yoga instructor. Miss Alison will be leading the DSE Yoga ECA each week and designing specific yoga programs targeting individual needs delivered in an assessable and engaging way. More information can be found in the most recent ECA booklet online.
But yoga is not just to enhance teaching and learning! Our dedicated staff take part in a weekly afterschool yoga session led by Miss Alison and Mrs Fernandez to help us relax, de-stress and prepare for the week ahead. For you busy parents out there, yoga is a great way to tune-in to yourself and gain valuable‘ me time’. So go ahead, try it!
