We are pleased to share the Department of Building Inspection ’ s ( DBI ) FY 2019-2020 Annual Report and are proud of how we continued to serve the public during the pandemic :
• We issued more than 56,000 building , electrical , and plumbing permits and conducted more than 139,000 inspections .
• We issued building permits for construction projects valued at more than $ 3,900,000,000 .
• We provided assistance to property owners resulting in more than 156 Accessory Dwelling Units constructed – adding to our affordable housing stock .
• We achieved an 80 % compliance rate for the Mandatory Soft Story Retrofit Program .
• We provided nearly 17,000 records to the public .
