"But the DSS [Directorate of State Security] exonerated Gen Ihejirika..." quipped in Dazzle Feat reporter.

"Did they, so soon, perform a thorough investigation?" the retired army officer asked. Did they use a psychiatrist or a neurologist to ascertain the state of Gen Ihejirika's suspected paranoia. Ask yourself why Gen Ihejirika came to reject and dismantle the system of the Joint Task Force, JTF? Some soldiers are deserting, some involved in mutinous actions and others die defencelessly like chicken. Soldiers say they are given only fifty rounds of ammunition to face Boko Haram. If a soldier wants more than 50 rounds of ammunition, they say, he uses his monetary allowances to buy such from the same authorities. Haven't you heard that? All these happened under the leadership of a man you have chosen not to investigate

"Everything in this country has been politicised, including how a soldier loads his cartridges. The corruption inside the system is deliberately been induced and planted in order to weaken the army and create some alibi. The corruption there is not to enrich certain pockets, but to punish certain people.

"Is it this fear that made it for the Igbo tribe not to get to this height in the Nigerian armed forces for some four decades?" Dazzle Feat reporter asked.

"Ask Generals Gowon, Obasanjo, Buhari, Babangida, Abdussalam and President Shagari. They know better."

May be Gen Ihejirika is not guilty. But the situation that Boko Haram has created in the North-East Nigeria is certainly guilty. Yet, it is the situation that has implicated Ali Modu Sheriff, Gen Ihejirika and a host of others yet unnamed. Only a thorough investigation will dress them, either of innocent garbs or rags of guilt and shame.
