The Nigerian security network is yet to officially announce any seizure of arms imported into Nigeria for the purpose of Boko Haram despite Boko Haram's regular and wanton use of sophisticated weapons.
Why do Boko Haram weapons in transit escape the eyes of Nigeria's security network while the security network feasts on the catch of other weapons? "The answer is simple", Bello Sagir Ahmad, a researcher pursuing his doctorate degree in International Conflicts Resolution under the International Relations program, points out. "All the 'Hizbullah arms', the 'Malabu arms' and the 'Kinshasa arms' are actually Boko Haram arms."
"Let me give you a scenario", Bello adds. "Suppose eighty percent of the arms intercepted at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport is deposited in Nigeria and only twenty percent is taken to Malabu or Kinshasa. Now, worst case scenario - suppose all the weapons were deposited in Nigeria and empty planes were flown to both Malabu and Kinshasa as decoy." Bello concludes with probing eyes. A "Revenge" Mission Cell?
Sheikh Ahmad Mahmud Gumi, a Kaduna-based Muslim cleric may not be surprised at the mention of General Azubuike Onyeabo Ihejirika (rtd) by the Reverend Stephen Davis as one of the key sponsors of Boko Haram. Sheikh Ahmad Gumi maintained consistent accusations, on his social media pages most especially, against General Ihejirika of displaying an open hatred against Nigerian citizens that are not of the Igbo tribe, which General Ihejirika belongs to. In one of his social media postings, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi wrote: "There is a new dangerous trend in promotions and recruitment in the Nigerian Army, which should be firmly and promptly checked before it destroys the military and the country. This trend is clearly visible in the manner in which the current Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika is handling these two important aspects of running an effective army institution, which is very critical to the survival of any state. It appears that the Chief of Army Staff is on a specific mission, most probably, sponsored by some sinister dark forces bent on destroying the army and setting the country on the path of serious conflagration.
