Learn About The Risk Factors Of Rectal
Prolapse
Rectal prolapse is the overhanging of either the rectal mucosa or the whole wall
of the rectum. Partial prolapse encompasses only the mucosa and generally only
overhangs by a few centimeters. Complete prolapse encompasses all layers of the
rectal wall.
Prolapses of the rectum occur either with bowel movements or
autonomously. In the ageing, rectal prolapse originally only occurs with
excretion and then retracts impulsively.
More advanced rectal prolapses treatment might befall when standing and
so significantly interfere with the patient's quality of life.
Risk factors
Augmented intra-abdominal pressure - e.g., constipation, diarrhoea,
benevolent prostatic hypertrophy, pregnancy, severe or chronic cough
(e.g., chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, howling cough).
