ATLANTIC CENTER FOR THE ARTS
Atlantic Center for the Arts is a unique interdisciplinary artists’ community located in New Smyrna
Beach. Atlantic Center was founded in 1979 by prominent painter and sculptor Doris Leeper, with initial
funding from the Rockefeller Foundation. Situated on 67 pristine acres at the edge of Turnbull Bay, the
Center’s mission is to foster and nurture artistic excellence and to encourage interdisciplinary research.
The Center’s residency program brings together internationally-known Master Artists from the
visual arts, literature, music and their performing arts to work with talented mid-career Associates. The
Center provides an environment for intensive, hands-on work as well as a forum for sharing ideas or
developing collaborative projects.
