Helen Keller said, “Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the
children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than
outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.”
Something inside each of us resonates with this statement. We long for lives well lived;
lives marked by courage and faith. Truly, God fashioned us as women to thrive in the
exploration and discovery of the world in which He placed us. “Living adventurously”
doesn’t always mean doing something extraordinary. It only requires a willingness to
step out of one’s comfort zone and into the next right thing. It means embracing new
disciplines, exploring deeper relationships, trying new things. Something in our hearts
comes to life when we live this way. We become participants in the grand story of life,
acquainting ourselves with aspects of nature and God and people that we would entirely
miss if we stayed safely in the wings.
In this issue, we visit a few of the ways women explore, discover, and thrive. From
adventuring in the great outdoors, to experiencing painful and unexpected life seasons,
to planning for your next roadtrip, the content of this issue is meant to serve as a tool to
inspire us to actively engage in life. We are holistic beings, comprised of spirit, senses,
thoughts, and emotions, and here at DOP, we believe that thriving in this life means
giving due attention to all parts of who we are, as our Magnificent Creator intended.
As spring gives way to summer, soak your soul in the wonders of Who He is, and who
you are, because you are His. Begin to look for the adventure our passionate God is
