apple pie with ice cream will round out your morning.

Experience the joy of grandparenting, even if you don’t
live near or have grandchildren. Last year, children in the
preschool classes visited with the ladies in the Knitting,
Crocheting & Needlework group and learned the ins and
outs of knitting and crocheting. The children in preschool
also participated in the Ageless Grace brain stimulation and
movement class on several occasions.
Dia de los Muertos
or The Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican holiday
celebrating the return of lost ancestors. Spend the
morning learning about the traditions, food, art, and dance
associated with this holiday by attending this hands-on
event designed for youth and adults. In the afternoon take
the opportunity to view the Disney animated film Coco.
Please take advantage of this amazing opportunity to be a
grandparent for a day. Best of all, the “mess” stays at our
house, not yours! Come for the morning or stay all day. Please preregister
and indicate if you will be attending morning, afternoon
or the whole event. If staying all day, bring your own lunch
and beverage. A snack will be provided.
Date: Thu, Oct 18
Time: 9:00 am–3:30 pm
Cost: FREE, please preregister
Class #: AESR6B
Location: North High School, gym/cafeteria
Welcome Home! Still to Come
This fall you will have two additional opportunities to
experience the joy of grandparenting for the day: Apple
Pie and Dia de los Muertos. Please preregister for these
activities so we can plan accordingly.
An Ever Improving Gladstone
I hope you had a great time this past summer, playing
cards, exercising, eating ice cream and of course laughing.
A special thanks to the staff at Weaver Elementary who
made all of us feel very welcome. However. there is just no
place lik e home.
Construction still isn’t complete on the outside of the
building but all activities are up and running. What did you
come home to? Energy efficient windows that let much
more light into activity rooms and the gym, a fresh coat of
paint in the rooms, and perhaps the best of all - new tables
and chairs!
Two large screen TVs will replace the LCD projector and
screen used in rooms 105 and 108 to project presentations
and view DVDs.
Decorating - Now that we are back, lets give the rooms
a homey, welcoming feel. Since the shelving along the
windows has been removed it will be harder to display
items but we can hang things on the walls and bulletin
boards. Please stop by the office with your decorating ideas.
Cleaning out the cupboards -Please clean out and
consolidate items in your group storage space at Gladstone.
Several new groups have started and they need room for
their supplies. I will be reassigning storage space.
Gladstone Will be Closed On:
September 3, Labor Day
November 22, 23, Thanksgiving Holiday
December 24, 25, Winter Holiday
January 1 New Years’ Day
No Meals on Wheels service or activities on these dates.
