Barn Quilts of Carver County
Made for barns, not beds, barn quilts are quilt patterns drawn to scale and painted on wooden panels that are hung
on the exterior walls of historic barns or other agricultural buildings. These beautiful pieces of artwork highlight
the art of quilting while showcasing Carver County’s historic agricultural icons. This tour encompasses 10 farms
and 18 barn quilts. Take the opportunity to step off the bus to not only view the quilt blocks but also surrounding
gardens. Some of the farms also feature a market or antique shop. Learn why each family chose their particular
quilt block as well as the history of the barn, the farm and the area. You will receive a full color brochure of all of
Carver County’s 25 barn quilts. A gourmet box lunch will be served in the restored barn at Deardorff Orchards &
Parley Lake Winery. Please indicate your choice of turkey or ham sandwich and specify white, wheat or rye bread.
All condiments will be served separately. There will be time to browse the gift shop and view the wine tasting room.
Please arrive at Gladstone by 8:15 am. The tour will leave promptly at 8:30 am and will return to the same location
at approximately 3:00 pm. There are no refunds after June 1. A $2-3 gratuity per person is recommended and may
be paid directly to the driver following the tour. Janet Fahey
