March is National Meals on Wheels Month
A study of Meals on Wheels customers conducted by Brown University in 2015 found that customers reported the following after signing up for Meals on Wheels:
IMPROVEMENT in mental health( I. E. Anxiety) |
REDUCTIONS in worrying about remaining at home |
IMPROVEMENT in self-rated health |
REDUCTIONS in the rate of falls |
REDUCTIONS in feelings of isolation and loneliness |
Did you know? There is no age or income requirements for Meals on Wheels. Medicaid waivers and other subsidy programs can help cover the cost of meals. For those who don’ t qualify for those programs, meals are priced affordably and your budget infl uences how much you pay.
Gladstone has been the local provider of Meals on Wheels for people living in North St. Paul, Maplewood, and the upper East Side of St. Paul since 1974. In 2011, Gladstone Meals on Wheels started serving people living in Oakdale as well.
Meals on Wheels is the meal delivery service that provides a hot, daily, noon meal, a safety check and a social visit – all delivered by friendly volunteers.
Meals can be delivered every day, a few times per week or you can receive a weekly delivery of meals to be reheated. There are special diet and cultural meal options available as well.
Meals on Wheels is perfect for people who are unable to prepare nutritious meals for themselves, who need them for a short-term as they recover from an injury or surgery, and anyone who would benefi t from the social connection provided by delivery volunteers.

Volunteer! We are always looking for friendly, caring individuals who are available during the noon hour to deliver meals. Scheduling is flexible and training is provided. All you need is a car and a valid driver’ s license. Note: Oakdale residents we are looking to expand routes in Oakdale. Consider delivering to your neighbors in need.
