’ll be honest and admit that
French cuisine is typically not my
date night meal of choice. I usually associate French cuisine with escargot, frog legs
and big prices for little portions.
La Petite Pierre French Bistro & Wine Bar
located in the heart of Madeira definitely
opened my mind and my taste buds for a
great date night adventure that took me
out of my typical culinary comfort zone.
The outside of the restaurant displayed a
French flag, and the inside of the restaurant
was cozy and buzzed with other patrons
enjoying their dinner. The atmosphere was
conversational, but not too quiet or too
loud. The volume level was perfect because
sometimes if it’s too quiet in a cozy space,
you feel like you’re in a library and have
to whisper so that others don’t hear your
whole conversation. Our table in the corner
was perfect for a view of the intimate room.
La Petite Pierre is a labor of love inspired
by owner, Michele’s father Pierre, who

shared his love of French cuisine and his
award-winning cooking skills with his
daughter. Pierre was the head chef of the
Maisonette in 1962 (Cincinnati’s premiere
restaurant), and now restaurant patrons
can experience the excellence in each
dish created passed down from father to
daughter.
We started our meal with a small order
of Moules à la Marinière (PEI mussels,
white wine, shallot, garlic, parsley, cream,
grilled baguette). The creamy sauce was
so amazing that I was almost tempted to
