Data Driven Issue 02
THE IT ROADMAP
In 2013, Avanade and Lotus F1 Team joined forces
in order to optimize the team’s resources; to gain a
competitive advantage through better organization,
quicker production, faster decision making, and more
intelligent analysis. The work continues apace in 2014,
but in just 12 months the quantifiable benefits of this
alliance are clear to see. Data Driven takes you through
the milestones.
““Avanade joined us at the busiest time of the year, in preparation for the
new season. It was therefore essential they hit the ground running,” explains
Lotus F1 Team’s Deputy IT/IS Director, Michael Taylor. Avanade and the team
reached an agreement to work together back in May 2012 but it wasn’t until
January 2013 that Avanade’s team of 20 software engineers arrived at Lotus
F1 Team’s Enstone Technical Centre , embedding themselves within the IT
Department and integrating with rest of the Team
“Our software influences every stage of the car’s lifecycle, from conceptual
ideas to on-track performance and analysis by delivering improvements
to every department; notably aero, design, production and trackside. They
quickly got up to speed with the team’s needs and how we work, and
combining that knowledge with their technical expertise to deliver new
solutions fast and often,” says Taylor. “That, for me, was mightily impressive.
We couldn’t have hoped for the transition phase to be slicker.”
