Data Driven sits down with motor racing legend and
Genii consultant Sir Jackie Stewart to discuss how today’s
proliferation of data is in stark contrast to the way things
were in his winning days.
“Formula One is like Star Wars. It always has been,” begins triple world
champion Sir Jackie Stewart.
“Today’s Lotus F1 Team car might make my 1973 Tyrrell-Ford look terribly old
fashioned, but that Tyrrell was absolutely state-of-the-art at the time. I won
six out off 11 grand prix in it. And looking back to the Mercedes-Benz and
Auto Unions of the ‘30s, they look archaic now but at the time they were Star
Wars”. Formula One has always been at the leading edge, and it moves so
quickly that year-on-year it looks a generation apart.
