Hello, Saad! Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions from Dastaan World Magazine. Could you please tell us a bit about what you’re working on right now and your plans for the immediate future?

Thanks for the opportunity! Currently, our main focus has been a lot of illustration work these days, at our studio, Ninja Strokes. We’re working with a diverse pool of clients that have very intriguing tasks and we love taking up anything that tickles our fancy. So you can say, currently, we’re building business at Ninja Strokes, a forge for artists to work, collaborate, learn, build and exist.

How and why did you decide / realize you wanted to become an artist?

A series of fortunate events, a little skill as a child and a steer in the right direction turned me into an artist. I’ve been passionate about drawings since I was a child. But growing up I was told I couldn’t make a living out of it, not in our country at least and I had bills to pay... that got me off the track for a while. Until one day, someone told me I could make money and pursue a career in art. You never ‘become’ an artist. You either are, or you’re not. It’s simply about finding a way to do what you’re passionate about and what you’re good at.

Define “Concept Artist”, or however you choose to identify yourself professionally.

A concept artist is anybody who can bring thoughts, imagination and words to life through illustrations, drawing and other art styles. I think concept artists are visual storytellers, people who can simplify the complexities of imagination and stretch their grey matter to create concepts that are unique & provocative.
