What are the major highlights of your journey so far? Milestones, challenges and accomplishments?
There are quite a few. Having my name built into a set of major Hollywood blockbuster (hotel name in Ghost in the Shell), starting my first job at major studio (Crytek) and being integral part of video game that is considered as a cornerstone of games industry (The Last of Us) are few pretty big achievements of the past. The journey never ends, though. And I grind daily towards what's next.
The makers of the 2017 "Ghost in the Shell" movie gave a nod to Maciej's role in developing the film's look by naming a hotel location in the movie after him.
How would you define artistic success?
Definition of success is very subjective. I believe it should be defined by ourselves, and for ourselves only. I’ve learnt that everyone has different level of expectations when it comes to success and it’s always defined by what is important to us at the specific time. I personally stopped paying attention to what other people expectations are when it comes to what should I do to be successful and instead, I’m focusing on achieving my own goals, embrace the difficulty of road to achieve these goals and enjoy the reward of accomplishment or learning experience of failure.
Tell us something about Showtime. How did it start? And where does it stand? What are your plans for it?
Showtime is a personal IP I started developing back in 2012. It stemmed from my love and admiration towards cyberpunk and 90’s manga and anime. I like working on the characters I created as an avenue to explore my own ideas. Where does it lead to? Can’t say yet.
