Nostalgic Boat Tours and
Day-Tripping Fun at Lake Norman
H
ave you ever wondered how
relaxing it would be to take
boat tours down the Mississippi
on classic paddle boats? Well, you
can get the very same experience
right here in North Carolina on
a replica riverboat that docks on
Lake Norman at Queen’s Landing
in Mooresville: She’s called the
Catawba Queen.
There are a number of different boat
tours on the “Queen” that take you
back in time to the Deep South.
As you watch the paddles turn
gracefully, you can imagine what it
was like in days when life moved a
little slower.
While the Catawba Queen is one
of the main attractions in the Lake
Norman area, there are lots of other
activities. For families living in the
Triad, day-tripping to the lake is
easy – it’s only 4 miles off Interstate
77. There is plenty to do and see
for all ages, so bring Grandpa and
Grandma along as well.
If you’ve got small children or
elderly folk, lunch-time boat tours
are ideal because they are more
laid-back and more fun for the kids.
Start your day-tripping adventure
with some time to spare before
boarding the “Queen” and take a
walk to the docks where you can
feed some of the biggest koi fish
you’ll ever see!
The captain will welcome you
aboard the Catawba Queen as you
walk up the gangway. There is seating on the upper and main decks,
but if you want to feel the breeze in
your hair and get a better view, sit
on the upper deck.
