Tucked away in Danbury, a tiny
hamlet near Hanging Rock State
Park, is the century-old Priddy’s
General Store, where scenes
were shot for the surprisingly
successful horror flick Cabin Fever.
First-time director Eli Roth handpicked locations for the film. He
found Priddy’s to be the perfect
country store, thanks in part to
its light yellow exterior and aged
pine floors. Film junkies will
recognize it in scenes that feature Credits

director David Lynch of Blue Velvet fame
originally put his name on the film as
executive producer. However, he later

Films bought the United States distribution
rights (with a promise for a sequel) during
the 2002 Toronto Film Festival. Cabin Fever
filmed primarily in the Triad at locations
in Mocksville, Ramseur, Trinity, High Point,
Mew’s Creek, Mount Airy, and Danbury.
The campsite was at Raven Knob Boy
Scout Camp, located at 266 Raven Knob
Road, off Ledonia Church Road just west
of Mount Airy. The hospital scenes were
shot at the Davie County Hospital, located
at 223 Hospital Street in Mocksville. The
farmhouse, Terrell Farm, is in Trinity on
Hoover Hill Road. Several water scenes
were filmed at Mew’s Creek.
