Destinations 63rd NC Annual Herring Festival Apr 6 – 8, 2012 Water Street Jamesville, NC 27846 Jamesville - Celebrating 63rd Anniversary of the NC Herring Festival. Roads will close at noon on Friday, April 6th. Vendors open at 5pm. The festival officially kicks off Friday night with live music and a street dance from 7pm - 10pm. Saturday, April 7th, 6am -10am - Pancake Breakfast (New Fire/EMS Bldg.); Vendors open 9am; Parade 10am; After parade - Egg Hunt at Tammy’s Plant House; 10:45am - Opening Ceremony (Main Stage), Various Artists (Main Stage), 5:30pm - Street dance. Local civil clubs and churches will be serving all sorts of tasty dishes and treats,(in addition to herring) including hot dogs, cheesesteaks, shrimp, oysters and many homemade desserts. At the Cypress Grill and River’s Edge Restaurant you will be delighted by the festival’s inspirational “herring” cooked up fresh for your dining pleasure. Local art and craft vendors will line the streets all weekend to show off their talents and provide face paining for kids of all ages. Various bands will be on stage providing musical entertainment and Brinkley Entertainment will provide lots of fun rides for children on Main Street. Easter Sunday, April 8th, 6:30am Easter Sunrise Service at the Jamesville Cemetery. Sunday evening, when the sun goes down, fireworks by the local Fire & Rescue(behind Fire/EMS Bldg.) will be a fitting finale to a unique Easter weekend to remember.
