These were my thoughts following a religious education lesson at primary school . Well , maybe the expletive wasn ’ t there but it certainly got my attention and kickstarted a life time obsession with the idea of death and sexual arousal . The story resonated with me immediately and led to a physical response . I got an erection . It had happened before ; I didn ’ t know what it meant but it was exciting and tended to happen around ladies and my female class mates . The story wasn ’ t told with any relish by our matronly junior school teacher but it struck a chord . In truth it made me frightened and excited at the same time . There were two girls called Judith in my class . Would they cut my head off ? It also embarrassed me . This was the early 7Os . Patriarchy was the orthodoxy despite Women ’ s Lib and it ’ s recent Miss World protests . Men did the fighting and women were mothers and nurses , not cold-blooded calculated killers ! They weren ’ t as strong or as aggressive ; they were carers and nurturers … weren ’ t they ? I ’ d be embarrassed to be bested or killed by a woman
