Headspace +
Pillow Automatic Sleep Tracker
(Subscription-based, students can pair with
Spotify account for £3.99 a month for both).
Headspace's wonderful, un-intimidating
approach to meditation coupled with Pillow's
intelligent sleep-tracking technology make
for great night-time companions to keep
your restless mind at bay.
‘Flow’ By Moleskine
(subscription) IOS
A sturdy note-taking and illustration app,
Moleskine’s impressive drawing tool offers
a clutter-free sketchbook, allowing latenight
doodlers to switch to black paper in
order to avoid screen glare and damaging
their eyes.
Habitica + Forest
(Both free, available on IOS, Android and
Habitica also available online)
Habitica merges much-loved classic
adventure gaming with simple habittracking
technology - create an adventurer
and complete daily tasks to level up.
We particularly loved ‘party mode’, where
you can go on quests with friends to tackle
a group project to victory.
Forest is a wonderful tool if you feel
you're on your phone too much and plants
virtual trees as you get on with work.
The Gardens Between +
Monument Valley
Mac (£19.99) PC (£15.49) also some consoles
Monument Valley (£2.99) on IOS and Android
The heart-warming experience of
Monument Valley hasn’t shifted from
being one of the most calming and
relaxing games to date.
Once you get past the ephemeral
challenge of guiding Ida from one place
to another, you begin to fall in love
with exploring its forgotten lands.
Just watch out for the pesky ‘Crow
People’- they’re a bit of a nuisance.
The Gardens Between is a thematic
masterpiece, which has very quickly
become one of our favourite games to
play this summer. Guiding Arina and
Frent through the ethereal puzzler,
players control time itself, allowing
scenes and character development to
unfold at your fingertips.
It's soothing soundtrack makes for a
perfect addition to ‘deep focus’ playlists
you might be listening to at 3am.
Whether you’re aiming to sleep
better during these longer nights or
intruigued about completing quests
tackling your everyday to-do list,
we hope these apps encourage you to
create helpful habits and embrace
downtime with ease.
