VERMILION COUNTY, ILLINOIS A bustling river town was the dream of Dan Beckwith when he first came to Vermilion County. Beckwith donated twenty acres of the first eight and platted the town into lots north and south of Main Street, and east and west of Vermilion. Coal mining, railroading, and manufacturing. Danville has had them all. Today, nestled within the area of natural beauty and abundant resources, Danville still has a lot to offer those who follow in the paths of the first settlers.
Vermilion County was established January 18, 1826 and comprises 898 square miles. Danville is the county seat. Vermilion County is served by a number of commercial rail routes, as well as Interstate 74 and the Vermilion County Regional Airport.
