Dairyland Peach Business Profile 2019, Page 7 Three Sisters Furnishings: 10 years of providing customers with an experience Where can you find high quality goods at a local family-owned store, combined with friendliness and ex- cellent customer service? Three Sisters Furnishings near New London, Minnesota! Upon entering the store, once a former restaurant which has been completely remodeled into a beautiful showroom, it is evident the amount of hard work and care taken to create an experience for shoppers. Wheth- er you are a local person looking for a gorgeous dining table and chairs for your home, a snowbird who needs outdoor furniture for the cabin, a visitor looking for a unique Minnesota souvenir, or a person in need of ex- pert home design advice, Three Sisters is able to meet your needs. The three sisters who inspired the name, Jacki, Tracy and Katie, along with their parents Roger and Judy Im- dieke, opened the doors of Three Sisters Furnishings in July of 2009. Roger, a county commissioner who farmed many years in the Elrosa area, recognized the potential of combining timber from his 200 acres of land and his relationship with the local Amish, to sell quality-con- structed Amish furniture. Roger’s own timber harvested from his farm has also been used in the flooring and ceiling. Much of the staining and painting labor was completed by Roger. His daughters, who have jobs out- side the store, still offer helpful business advice, like the addition of a brick fireplace in a newer addition. Beautiful Amish furniture adorns the showroom at Three Sisters Furnishings, although 90 percent or more of sales are custom orders. “With eight types of wood, 16 stains, and the different fabric types, there are endless combinations,” Roger said. Some pieces are constructed by the Amish in Todd County, using wood harvested from Roger’s farm. Other pieces are designed and made in Ohio and Indiana, by larger companies who are able to follow trends and add more unique features to their pieces. Roger has found guidance in other retail store owners along the way, helping him choose reputable companies to work with. Judy, who worked for 25 years in medical transcrip- tion at ACMC in Willmar, has education in interior dec- orating and looks for unique pieces at vendor events for the store. She works with customers in-store and locally in their homes. The store has 12 part-time employees; two with interior decorating training and four who do custom furniture orders. The three sisters all help when they can, with Katie handling the store website. Since opening, Three Sisters Furnishings has expand- ed both their size and their products. They carry wall art, home décor, Pandora jewelry, boutique clothing, Stormy Kromer outdoor gear, unique toys for children including Schleich and Jellycat, books, games, puzzles, kitchen items including Stonewall Kitchen, gourmet foods including their own brand of sauces and dress- ings, meats, cheeses and pantry items. Many products are manufactured in Minnesota. Their own maple syrup is tapped from Roger’s woods. Meats and cheeses are locally made. Coffee, shortbread, chocolate, lefse, wild rice and other mouth-watering items come from local sources. Minnesota-made games/ puzzles, toys, clothing, cards, soy candles and pottery can be found.
