The Inseparable Bond

of Sisterhood

Twins and Teammates

Courtney and Tori Cochefski started gymnastics in Connecticut when they were 4 years old, “We watched our older sister go to practice and begged our mom to [enroll us] and our love for gymnastics flourished from there,” said Tori. From that moment on, Courtney and Tori were inseparable in the gym, “It was nice to have a companion at practice, someone that would constantly push you.”

The Cochefski twins both accepted gymnastics scholarships to Texas Woman’s University, “Going to the same University was not a deal breaker for us, but we thought it’d be nice to go to school together,” Tori told us as she looked back on her freshman year at TWU, “We absolutely loved the coaching staff and we met a couple of the girls [on the team] and could tell how much they loved each other. They were like a family.”

When asked about their college experience together, Tori said, “It has been nice having her by my side and helping me through everything. We have definitely grown as individuals and sisters through this experience.” The twins had a very close relationship before they went off to TWU together, but college has only made their bond stronger.

One might assume that when siblings train in the same gym together their whole lives, sibling arguments would come up, but Tori says, “We try to keep our arguments outside of the gym. [The gym] is a time where we need to focus on what we’re doing.” When arguments do arise, Tori says their teammates are always there to set them straight!
