MAR. 18
The Fifth Sunday in Lent
JEREMIAH 31:31-34 PSALM 51:1-13
HEBREWS 5:5-10 JOHN 12:20-33
Father,
You ask me to die many deaths over the course
of my life — death to the illusion of my perfection,
death to the illusion of my self-sufficiency. Give
me strength to face theses deaths knowing
that, through them, you lead me to a fuller
life — not only eternally, but today. As these
illusions of who I am pass away, I embrace the
individual that you have made me to be. Let me
live wholeheartedly in the vulnerability of these
deaths, finding peace in the fact that they are
a faint echo of the sacrifice you made for me.
Amen.
