For the history buffs, there are museums, art galleries, and religions monuments all around the country. These galleries are filled with famous painter’s masterpieces, and the museums are filled with interesting artifacts you cannot find any where else. For the history buffs that like to learn more about religion there are hundreds of monasteries and churches including the extravagant Brevnov Monastery, and the beautiful Loveto and Capuchin Monastery. The Brevnov Monastery was founded by the second Bishop of Prague in 993 AD. At the monastery they have been brewing beer for over a thousand years. In 1420 the brewery was almost destroyed in a war. As for the Loveto and Capuchin Monastery, it is one of the most beautiful monasteries in all of the Czech Republic.
For the more adventurous and active travelers there are snowboarding and skiing lessons in the mountains every week. The Czech mountains offer winter resorts with top-class equipment, high quality slopes, cross-country tracks, bobsleigh runs as well as complete sports services such as skiing and snowboarding schools for children and adults. The mountains are also a good place to go hiking and camping. Another thing in the mountains are huge castles. The gothic castle of Bezdez is one of the best known and most popular castles. It was turned into a monastery and later became a pilgrimage site. The castle was abandoned in the 18th century. The parts accessible to the public are the royal palace, burgrave’s house and the unique early gothic chapel. The castle tower offers a stunning view of the surrounding landscape. Also the castles romantic silhouette has attracted many artists for around the world.
