Wedding Cake
in
Cyprus
Planning your wedding, and your cake, can seem daunting from a distance
but these guidelines, by Jackie of Love Island Cakes, will make the task a
whole lot easier.
It is very true that you ‘get what you pay
for’. Professional cakes will normally be
deep, high quality and with attention to
Detail.
The Cyprus
Weather
Cakes are put on display for a short time in
the hot summer months so the official cake
cutting and photos usually takes place after
the ceremony and before the reception
meal. Your cake designer understands this
and will advise you on the best timings and
location for your pictures.
The type of cake
One of your first decisions is whether to
have a traditional tiered cake, a tall display
of individual cupcakes, mini cakes or
Temari (one for each guest) or a unique
carved cake. Look for interesting flavours
and fillings that will delight your guests.
This is YOUR
cake
When looking around for inspiration and
ideas, choose a design that you really like,
not just because you’ve seen it in your
colours. Your cake designer will personalise
the design with your theme and your
colours. The only limit is imagination!
The budget
You can have the cake of your dreams and
a good cake designer will show you ways
of having the cake you’d like without it being
way over budget.

Allow plenty
of time
The best cake makers have a very busy
diary and work on a ‘first come, first served’
basis. Most cake makers take a deposit to
reserve your date and then work with you
on the design when you have all the other
elements of your wedding in place. We
suggest booking 6 months to 2 years in
advance for the most popular dates although
even if your wedding is only a month away
there is no harm in asking if there is
availability for you.
‘Matching the cake to
the bride’s dress is
increasingly becoming
the trend at the
moment’
Inspiration
Matching the cake to the bride’s dress is
increasingly becoming the trend at the
moment. Tell your cake maker about your
outfit, your bridesmaid dresses, stationery,
theme, flowers, table centrepieces, etc.
Your cake is the centrepiece of your
reception and should reflect your plan for
your day.
If you take a planning visit to Cyprus before
your wedding, then take the opportunity to
sample cake. A good baker will offer you a
range of cake flavours, work with you on
your favourites and help you with dietary
needs, such as gluten free.
What size?
Tell your cake maker how many portions
you need and they will advise you on the
best size for your chosen design. Sponge type
cakes are the most popular here in Cyprus
but you decide how much you want served
on the day. Many brides will keep a tier
back to the next day to enjo y with closest
family and friends.
The display
Discuss with your cake designer how and
where the cake will be displayed. A good
cake designer will look for great
backgrounds (subject to the venue
facilities) for your photographer to get the
best shots. Cake staging is really important
to get the look and feel of your day.
