The top tech news stories this week It’s hard to keep up with all the news that’s going on these days! For most of us, we just don’t have time to browse through all the stories on every news page. There are new products, gadgets, revelations, updates and discoveries emerging every day. It can be difficult to sort everything and find the most interesting headlines. Fortunately, we’ve done that for you, and summarized the top tech news stories this week. Gartner was the folk who (accurately) predicted several of the megatrends of the last decade. Those predictions would be the widespread use of mobiles, the use of social analytics (con- sidering things like SEO and keyword map- ping) as well as cloud storage and sharing. They were absolutely bang-on in regards to those three things, so we’ve got no reason to doubt them any further. The furthering of AI and its eventual emergence as a megatrend is thanks to our incredible advances in technology in several key areas. GARTNER ANALYSTS SUGGEST “AI” WILL BE THE NEXT BIG MEGATREND • We’re developing more intricate neural networks than ever before • We have nearly an unlimited amount of data available • The power of our computers is unprecedented The combination of these technologies and a growing desire to recreate human intelligence are the main driving forces behind the emerging AI megatrend. However, with the new megatrend comes a lot of concern from scientists and civilians alike. Many questions what the ultimate intention of artificially intelligent robots will be. Will they happily serve humans? Will we co-exist? Or will there be a rebellion? You may remember a startling experience from last year’s most prominent AI robot showcase. The robot, live on stage in front of an audience and being live- streamed to thousands more online, announced that it wanted to ‘destroy all humans. 36
