Kostas Kardaras is an Electrical and Electronic Engineering professional with postgraduate and doctoral
studies in areas related to critical secure communications and integrated systems for public safety and
disaster recovery operations.
For the last 14 years, he worked as Chief Technical Consultant and Expert Advisor in commercial and
R&D projects in the security and critical infrastructure domain in the government and private sector in
Europe and Middle East. Some of the most important projects, he was involved, are mentioned bellow:
Planning and roll out management of the CATV broadcast network of the Olympic Games of 2004.
Integrated security system for the protection of the Olympic Games of 2004.
Mobile radio replacement project for Saudi Aramco.
Extension project for Mobile Radio Replacement Project for Saudi Aramco.
Saudi Strategic Storage Program (SSSP) for Saudi Aramco.
Wireless field communications replacement project for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
Mobile X-RAY imaging systems for contraband detection for border protection for the Hellenic republic.
Mobile ground surveillance vehicles for illegal immigration and information gathering for border
protection for the Hellenic republic.
Secure perimeter projects for various critical infrastructures in government buildings and border
infrastructure.
R&D projects such as; security upgrade for ports (SUPPORT), multi management networks with
bandwidth optimization (MAMBO), prediction and interpretation of human behavior with probabilistic
structures and heterogeneous sensors (PROMETHEUS), development of an integrated analysis system
for the effective fire conservancy of forests (CALCHAS), automated serious game scenario generator for
mixed reality training (AUGGMED) and the Hellenic civil unmanned aerial vehicle (HCUAV).
Through his involvement as Security Advisor, he worked for various government organizations which
were responsible for public safety and disaster relief systems; and designed integrated state-of-art
systems for mobile security command posts for ground surveillance of border lines, mobile X-RAY
imaging systems for homeland security, perimeter intrusion detection, and wireless airborne and
seaborne video transmission systems.
Lastly, Mr. Kardaras is lecturing to academic and research institutes in UK in areas related to security,
critical communications and he has been invited as keynote speaker to a number of scientific
committees, conferences and forums. He is principal member of the organizing committee of the
International Conference on Global Security, Safety and Sustainability (ICGS3), member of Armed Forces
Communications and Electronics Association, IEEE and TETRA association.
