Therefore, we should concentrate and focus on doable infrastructure projects, like:
Regional markets – an example is the pipeline from Aphrodite to Egypt,
• European markets – EastMed pipeline and LNG from Aphrodite to EU; these will be the first molecules of
EasternMed gas to the EU,
• International markets – LNG Plant in Cyprus (when quantities are available and price of gas is right).

In conclusion: The cooperation in hydrocarbons, for regional stability, peace and prosperity is vital for the
Eastern Mediterranean to emerge as a regional exporter for the European market. We need to build trust
between countries and between Governments and Investors. We need to focus on long-term planning and
invest on regional cooperation. Definitely new discoveries could act as catalyst for further regional cooperation
and synergies, thus favouring economies of scale. The gunboat diplomacy, which is followed by only one
country in the region, is unacceptable if we want prosperity in our region.
