Hi, I am Jonathan Friend.
Several years ago I embarked upon
a quest to identify some of the most
spectacular cycle rides on earth and offer
them to fellow ambitious and adventurous
cyclists who seek the ultimate riding
experience. Accessible to all reasonably fit
cyclists – you don’t have to be superman!
The Rides do require cyclists to put a bit of effort
into it, but, so long as they are regular cyclists then
the routes are quite manageable and enjoyable. Do I
ever reject potential clients? No, but I give guidance
on what one should be able to do before starting
the Ride. It is surprising what even some of the
underprepared can do and the buzz they get from it.
I enjoy seeking out the new and different.
The only thing I do that really overlaps with other cycling
tour operators is the London to Paris, which many of us
do, but I firmly believe that I operate on the best 3 day
route.
People say to me, what a fantastic idea to turn a hobby
into a business. Indeed it is! As a former executive
in the logistics field 13 years ago, I have had a lot of
experience to bring to the business. Yet the actual
cycling events are only part of the tale. I spend a vast
amount of time organising and communicating. Last
year I was on eight of our ten trips, but even then I
was doing much of the driving. When I can, I try to
cycle within the pack allowing my superb support team
to manage the tour. Even if I don’t ride, I really enjoy
taking people to fascinating places. This is my passion;
sharing breathtaking, unforgettable experiences.
