Tackling the Wild
Climbs of Dartmoor
Th ink of Dartmoor and you probably think
of ponies, Sherlock Holmes and a sort of
wild, rugged beauty unique to the British
Isles – and of course, Dartmoor is also
famous for being prett y damn hilly.
For bike riders who enjoy suff ering up
gradients and lying splutt ering in the
heather aft erwards, the Moor is home
to a handful of the toughest climbs in the
UK – at least if you take Simon Warren’s
book, ‘100 Greatest Cycling Climbs’ as a
decent indicator.
