What is there to do for non-cyclists?
If cycling isn’t what turns you on, the region is scatt ered with charming towns
and villages where you can while away the time. Take a 3 minute walk to the
centre of St.Jean-en-Royans for a coff ee, shops or visit the weekly market to
buy and sample local products including cheese, walnut products, ravioles,
honey and wine.
Th e Vercors is a playground for outdoor activities with many walking routes
directly from our door or higher up the plateau. Canyoning, canoeing and
rock climbing are also very popular.
We are a short drive from Drome Provencal if you want to see Lavender
fi elds or visit the famous wineries of the Rhône Alpes.
For those wanting a city experience you can take the train or drive to
Grenoble (40 mins) or Lyon (35 mins from Valence or 1 ½ drive)
When is the best time to cycle
in the Vercors ?
Th e Velo Vercors season starts at the beginning of May and ends in October.
For those concerned it might be too hot to cycle at the height of summer be
assured that the heat is never stifl ing. You are almost always surrounded by
water and the landscape remains lush and verdant and the higher you climb
the cooler the temperature becomes.
