and discover an area packed with places to explore .
Located on the East Coast of Scotland , with Edinburgh just to the south and Dundee to the north , Fife is a great choice for a cycling break . There are over 350 miles of sign �osted routes including on and off road , �assing through beautiful scenery , historical towns and a wonderfully varied coastline .
Fife is on several National Cycle Routes including ; Route 1 , the Coast & Castles route which heads up through the centre of the region before going east towards St Andrews , the world famous Home of Golf ; route 76 which follows the River Forth , heading round Fife ’ s coastline before joining 766 which heads north then west along the south of the River Tay . Route ��� is an off road section coming from neighbouring Clackmannanshire to Dunfermline , one time capital of Scotland .
�f you are looking for more off road cycling there is a network of short mountain bike trails taking in the coast , parklands and forests . There are plenty of options for longer rides too including the Lomond Hills which are the highest point in Fife with a good path network and great views from the top . Fife Coastal Path is another good choice . It runs all the way from Kincardine in the west to Newburgh on the north shore of the Tay ( 117 miles ).
Wherever you choose to cycle there is plenty to see and do along the way . Inland there is lovely rolling countryside , while the coast features award winning beaches plus more dramatic rocky scenery with lovely views and great wildlife s�otting o��ortunities . �ff the bike there are lots of options . Fife has a very rich history and is packed with places to visit from castles to caves and historic villages to heritage sites . If you ’ re looking for something more active you could try land yachting on the famous West Sands in St Andrews or maybe a round of golf on the world famous Old Course . For culture lovers we have a great range of quirky festivals throughout the year plus plenty of museums and galleries .
There are some excellent bike shops across Fife for spares , servicing , and expert local cycling knowledge .
