STUDY FOR A YEAR GROW IN YOUR LEADERSHIP HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE Michael Finger was part of our 2015 Internship Program. He currently is employed as a Youth Ministry Worker at One Community Church as well as studying Education at Monash University. Why did you do the CYC Ministries Internship? How did you most grow through your time as a CYC Ministries Intern? I saw the Internship as an opportunity to challenge myself but also to gain some Biblical knowledge. Given that it was my first year out of school, I was aware that I didn’t know a lot about why I believed what I believed, so this was a perfect chance to find that out for myself. I think the theological reflections we did as a group were pretty powerful for me. They forced me to take time out to actually think deeply and question who God is and how He was moving in my life. What was a highlight for you? The most challenging thing for me would have been facilitating a group of young leaders in sharing their testimony with the group. It was an incredible experience, but pretty emotional stuff! The highlight for me was definitely attending the National Youth Ministry Convention with the CYC Ministries staff and interns. I also loved the weekly time we had with the staff and other interns, such a cool crew, and you make some pretty special memories. What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the CYC Ministries internship? If someone was considering the Internship I would say, take a second to check your heart, and ask yourself what is it that I want to get out of this? If your posture is to learn more about God and who he’s created you to be, I don’t think you can go wrong!
