B CWEA Past President Carrie Mattingly featured in news story on planned treatment plant upgrades rown and Caldwell is pleased to announce that Simon Watson has joined the firm as a Senior Utility Performance Consultant in the Solutions Delivery Group (SDG). Simon is well known in the industry for his 23 years of service at Orange County Sanitation District as the Maintenance Manager and serving various positions on the CWEA Board and TCP Executive committee. He is currently the CWEA President-Elect. He has been a member of CWEA since 1994. In his new role, Simon Simon Watson will be working in a nationwide multidisciplinary team of industry experts with collaborative ability to guide utilities through successful business optimization programs. The SDG team provides a range of services – from financial planning rate studies through operational optimization and asset T he San Luis Obispo Tribune news story describes the upcoming $9.5m treatment plant upgrades and the plans for more energy-efficient systems. The sprawling facility, which operates on 37 acres, is an intricate network of concrete pools and treatment areas that transform sewage into water safe enough to be released into the city’s creeks. Many of the mechanisms used date to the plant’s last upgrade in 1994, but others have been in place for more than 60 years. The city partnered with PG&E to facilitate the upgrades through a program that uses projected operational savings to finance the upgrades.
