The new Allen Stand will replace an ageing structure that no longer meets the operational needs of a world‐class sporting venue. The design introduces improved sightlines, enhanced concourses, upgraded hospitality areas and modern amenities that support both matchday and non‐matchday use. WilkinsonEyre has developed an architectural language that complements the existing stands while introducing a refined, modern form that strengthens the visual coherence of the ground. The design also addresses circulation challenges, creating clearer routes that improve movement around the Ground.
Ellmer Ltd has been appointed as main contractor, bringing extensive experience in complex, high‐profile construction projects across London. The redevelopment requires careful planning and sequencing, particularly given the constraints of working within a live sporting venue that must remain operational throughout much of the construction period. Ellmer’ s role includes demolition of the existing stand, formation of new structural elements, installation of advanced building services and the delivery of high‐quality finishes that meet the standards expected at Lord’ s. The project team is working closely with MCC to coordinate works around the cricket calendar, ensuring that disruption is minimised and key fixtures can proceed as planned.
