FARRANS WIN BRIDGE CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR AT NCE BRIDGES AWARDS

Farrans was announced as the deserving winner of the Bridge Contractor of the Year at the NCE Bridges Awards 2025 following the successful delivery of three moving bridges in the last 12 months.
These included the world’ s largest rolling bascule bridge Gull Wing Bridge in Suffolk and one of Europe’ s longest opening pedestrian crossings in Glasgow, Govan to Partick Bridge in Glasgow – both of which opened on the same day in September 2024. Herring Bridge in Great Yarmouth, which was delivered in JV with BAM was the third bridge, one of Norfolk’ s most significant infrastructure projects in recent years.
By focusing on the key principles of innovation, collaboration, supply chain relationships, community engagement and sustainability, we successfully constructed three world-class infrastructure projects which are delivering significant, tangible benefits for their regions.
The judges said:“ Farrans has delivered major, technically complex bridge projects in the UK showcasing innovation, collaboration and sustainability. These bridges highlight Farrans’ leadership in civil engineering, with a continued focus on transport infrastructure and long-term investment in people and sustainable growth.”
Gull Wing Bridge was also recognised on the night with a win in the‘ Road Bridge of the Year’ category.
NCE editor Gavin Pearson said:“ Bridges have epitomised civil engineering for centuries and these awards recognise the best of the best as the industry continues to enhance its social, environmental and economic impact. From incredible work in maintaining historic bridges, right through to innovative new bridge concepts, our judges were impressed with the remarkable calibre and range of entries across the award categories, with the winners providing a terrific benchmark of best practice.”
